The meaning of Nerd (extracted from www.dictionary.com)

1. a stupid, irritating, ineffectual, or unattractive person.

2. an intelligent but single-minded person obsessed with a nonsocial hobby or pursuit: a computer nerd.

3. A foolish, inept, or unattractive person.

4. A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept.

5. an insignificant student who is ridiculed as being affected or boringly studious

6. an intelligent but single-minded expert in a particular technical field or profession

7. Pejorative applied to anyone with an above-average IQ and few gifts at small talk and ordinary social rituals.

8. Term of praise applied (in conscious ironic reference to sense 1) to someone who knows what's really important and interesting and doesn't care to be distracted by trivial chatter and silly status games. Compare the two senses of computer geek.

Well i believe that we are definitely not stupid / foolish , ineffectual, unattractive, socially inept and boringly studious. Please note the important points, we might belong to the above-average IQ type, intelligent and single-minded expert in a particular technical field or profession.
